TRADITIONAL OUTFIT

The feminine outfit ,like all outfits ,has its festive and its everyday type, which broadly speaking are the same. They only differ in the quality of the fabric and the embroidery ,which was of golden fibre on some occasions and of silk fibre on others. But what really makes he festive outfit differentiate from the everyday one are the gold sooted or silver bejeweled round clasps ,the well- known " klidotaria " ,which in the simple everyday dress are replaced by the pinner. Depending on the occasion , the shirt differs as well. Trikeri shirts are differentiated on the basis of their pattern and colour and are given different names and even the whole dressis named after them too. Thus , using the pattern as a criterion , the outfits are given local names ,such as "ksomplia", "papies", "thnaiiko", "rages" , "klima" , "korvetia " , "korfades" ,"petropoulia" (corresponding to the shapes of ducks, grapevines, and many more different kinds of plants and animals ,as well as geometrical figures). On the other hand , using the colour as a criterion ,we can have "aliko" (bright red) , "arkelato" (crimson), "kremezi" (crimson) , and "white" , which is usually worn by disengaged young women .

THE FESTIVE OUTFIT

The festive outfit iw made with profuse hack-value ,affected by the village's nautical tradition. It is made up of many pieces which , if worn in a specific order ,give out a sense of grandeur.

To begin with , the Trikeri women put on a short linen shirt to keep clean by the sweat , called "deconte". Over the "deconte" ,they wear 2 or more "mallines" , which are petticoats made of wool in the shape of the external dress , so as to add volume ti the outfit. Subsequently ,they wear 2 boiled shirts made of white cotton tissue ,with white embroidery on the neck , the shirtsleeves and the hem-line ,the so-called "asproudes"'. Last but not least ,they wear the silk dress ,with the folds known as "doukes" and the golden threaded hem-line .On their waste , the women of Trikeriwear a golden threaded belt , which fastensat the front with golden
" klidotaria" (round clasps) and under these they wear the "tsevres", a white square embroidered pinner made of organdy ,folded triangularly .The outfit is completed with a yellow head cloth with fringes , while the shirt's neck is closed with a polden pin ("velonaki") from which 3 big golden coins ("doubles") are hung .

THE SIMPLE OUTFIT

In this version of the dress a satin pinner decorated with embroidery is worn instead of the belt and " klidotaria " ,while the pin golden coins of smaller value replace the "doubla". Some of the simple dresses are called "ksomplia" , "klima" (grapevine) , and "papies" (ducks). It is the dress worn on most accasions .It is worn on festivals ,on "Laurels" eve, on May Day.

THE EVERYDAY OUTFIT

The everyday outfit is now a past memory. Only a few elderly women stick to the tradition and renounce the dictates of fashion , the so-called "european" clothing. This outfit , with bright colours and lively shapes for the young ladies , with dark colours for the women whose husbands are absent at foreign parts, and black for the widows , was made of calico for the warm days and of flannel for the cold days .
